Let the Summer Begin!

Okay, so I know summer doesn't "officially" start until tomorrow, but it sure feels like summer around here! The sun is out, the blueberries are ripe, and the kids play in water nearly every single day. From the moment we wake up, the boys start a chorus of "side, side, side!", which means "let's go outside!!!". They are learning to pick only the ripe blueberries, and so have started calling any blueberry by just the name "blue". Riding behind Daddy's bike in their pull-along "car" is a new found favorite activity. They love to hold hands, with the request "hand!", with each other or with us. As you might have noticed, their vocabulary is exploding! Bean often understands them better than we do. She's a fabulous, nurturing, compassionate big sister.

Where's your nose?

Cosmo eating watermelon and yogurt off the pavement. Yum!

Attitude times three!! :-)

The Cozy Coop cars are still a huge hit. Cosmo and Zeek like to go fast! fast! fast!

"Driving" behind Daddy and Bean. They wave "hi, hi, hi!" to every person and animal they pass.
And check out Bean - riding without training wheels!

Naps usually occur in the stroller. Once the boys are asleep, we park them in the garage.

In survival skills class this week, the kids started charcoal fires and had a big cook-out. The girls started their fire with the first match, which the teacher said is a cub-scout requirement that many older boys haven't mastered! We feasted on spider dogs (hot dogs cut so they curl up to look like a spider), fruit pies (using the pie iron), grilled cheese, oatmeal cakes, popcorn, stuffed bananas, apple "pies", and of course smores! Other than the stress of keeping toddlers away from the flames, it was a fabulous event enjoyed by all.

On Friday we attended a friend's birthday party. Launching water balloons at a target using a sling shot was one of the highlights of the day (and a great physics lesson to boot!).

Let the summer begin!
